The "Drawing Machine"

The book is the product of a concept called "Drawing Machine" created by the duo Yummy Industries.

The orginal MIAMI2007DECEMBER56789 was created over the period of 5 days in a designated space in Miami over the course of ArtBasel 2007; it was then scanned, color matched with over 250 colors and printed to 1 to 1 size copy in Madrid Spain by FactumArte.
The original drawing remains within the Yummy Industries archive.

The "Drawing Machine" consists of a portable table, a paper-roll and its participants. The table is entirely made of wood and tailored to fit 6 people; the roll of paper is held by a dowel, streches over the surface and collapses into a folding machanism that shapes the paper into a book; people are able to view the folded artwork directly.

The Machine was build by the artists to travel and encourage visual conversations with strangers, resulting in one-of-a-kind books; the amount of pages generated is determined by the days and the number of participants. Reminiscent of the Surrealist game "Exquisite Corpse", the result is an accordion-style book of drawings of various sytles.

Starting in May 2003 in Milan at Salone Satellite, hundreds of meters of drawings have been created so far in: Berlin, Geneva, Barcelona, Basel, New york, Miami and Paris.
